Counseling Support Groups

I am currently gathering interest for the following groups:

Processing Our Neurodivergence (name to be determined).
Women and Nobinary Processing Group (name to be determined).
Healing from Domestic Violence for Men
Healing from Domestic Violence for Women (Nonbinary and gender fluid people can join either group);
Lessening Symptoms of Anxiety

If you are interested in any of these groups, please either send me an email at [email protected] or
 schedule a consultation with me.

Are you unsure if your situation qualifies as domestic violence? If you are even questioning it, then the answer is likely yes. Also know that emotional abuse counts. To learn more, watch my presentation I did for NAMI or check out my books. Or, start by attending an Empowered Dating Workshop.

Processing Group structure
(Processing Our Neurodivergence and Women and Nonbinary Processing Group)

In process groups, we will come together to talk about our experiences. This group will have a loose structure, giving us space and time to let conversations flow naturally for us and for us to support one another. As the group facilitator, I will bring us together, suggest conversation topics, and keep the conversation flowing. Processing groups will meet indefinitely, and be open for new people to join.

Neurodiversity: We discuss our experiences relating to growing up, societal implications, medications, determining what is instinctual versus what is a symptom of our neurodiversity, and whatever feels important to us! Check out neurodiversity books!

Women and Nonbinary: We will discuss anything related to being our lives, and being women and nonbinary!

Psychoeducation/ Support Group structure (Healing from DV groups and Lessening Symptoms of Anxiety group)

In group counseling support groups, I will present education on a weekly topic. Then, the group will discuss the topic and feelings on that topic. The idea of these groups is that we learn to feel comfortable talking about our feelings, saying what's on our mind, and practicing communication skills such as vulnerability and boundary settings. The idea is that practicing these skills translates to feeling more confident using them in daily lives. Psychoeducation groups will be 8 weeks long.

As it feels useful, I will then present an exercise to do as a group and/or homework for further learning and processing, related to that group and week's topic. I will likely gather education, exercise, and homework ideas from the counseling theories that guide my practice.

Group logistics

When enough people have expressed interest in a counseling group, I will send an email asking for you to book a consultation. In the consultation, we will meet on Google Meet and discuss the details. The aim is for each group to have 4 to 8 people, ideally the same people every week.

Group timing and cost

All groups will be held online, on a weekday, and between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm PST. Groups will meet weekly for 90 minutes. Processing groups cost $50 per session; Psychoeducation groups cost $85 per session as they involve more in creating and educating. If the fee is a concern to you, please let me know and we can determine a fee that feels comfortable for you. Current group offerings are for adults, though if you are between 13 and 18 and interested in a group, please send me an email. Adults, and anyone interested in groups should send me an email at [email protected] or schedule a consultation.
