R/evolutionizing gender diverse relationships
Friday, June 7, 2019     5 to 8 pm     $40

It's a happy thing that here in Seattle we have a robust community of clinicians who have at least basic competency working with transgender and non binary (TGNB) clients. That pool of therapists becomes smaller, however, when discussing relationship issues when one or more partners are TGNB. That is the goal of this workshop. Between us we have worked [some number of years we care not to name} with TGNB individuals, couples and relationships. During that time we have learned a thing or two about some of the common themes, challenges and joys of dating and loving, marrying and parenting while trans.

Through presentation, case examples and discussion, we will explore some common themes (e.g., pacing and balance, grief and loss, identity and privilege, sexuality) as well as relationship stages  and structures (dating, marrying/committing, non-monogamy/polyamory, parenting, splitting up). We will discuss approaches to addressing relationship issues both in individual and dyadic (or more) therapy.

The work we do with TGNB individuals expands our ideas of gender and sexuality, busting us out of rigid binaries and roles, so if you want to step out of those boxes too, come join us!

Heather Chamberlain  I have been riding shotgun with gender adventurers and their partners for the past ten years, warding off gatekeepers and systemic oppressions along the way.  Blending narrative/feminist psychotherapy with coaching and practical strategies for navigating our current dystopia, my private practice in Pioneer Square is populated with amazingly strong, creative, and brilliant people who never cease to surprise and inspire me.

Stacey Prince  I spend much of every day being enraged and amazed - enraged at all the bullshit happening in the world and the pain that humans inflict on one another, and amazed at the beautiful art, healing and love that we are capable of despite all of that. I like to channel my rage and amazement into community building, anti-racism and other anti-oppression healing, and assisting clients into more liberation and freedom in their bodies, relationships and communities.
